Saint Valentine School

St. Valentine School unabashedly promotes values, aboveboard and out in the open, in all subject areas, in co-curricular activites, in Liturgies, and in every interaction with the administration, teachers, parents and students.

As a faculty we believe:

1. That faith is God-given.
2. That the primary concern of our life together in a Catholic School is belief in Jesus Christ and a life of faith in His name.
3. That growth in faith involves: living among believers, seeing life in the light of faith and being called to personal commitment.
4. That we must all strive for growth in our relationship with Christ.

Our PLAN OF ACTION will emphasize three main areas:

1. INTERPERSONAL LEVEL - (through the lives of staff, parents, students)
   • The faculty will regularly gather for morning prayer.
   • The faculty will continue to participate in "Sharing the Faith."
   • The faculty will assist students to see daily happenings in the light of FAITH.
   • Our school community will pray together and acknowledge God especially in times of need (example: death, illness, crisis)

2. ORGANIZATIONAL LEVEL - (through the school policies and procedures)
   • Enthronment of the Bible, evidence of Religion bulletin boards.
   • Opportunities will be available to receive the Sacraments.
     • Eucharist - weekly Liturgies
     • Reconciliation - once a year during school, once a year as a family
   • Share the Religion "Scope and Sequence Chart" with parents.
   • Begin all meetings with prayer expressing our FAITH in God's guidance.
   • Provide speaker for the August In-Service Day to acquaint the faculty with our new Religion series.
   • Annual evaluations by the Principle will be in the area of Religion.

3. INSTRUCTIONAL LEVEL - (through actual classroom instruction)
   • Faculty will emphasize the value of FAITH in all areas of the curriculum.
   • Classes will begin with prayer.
   • Religion classes will be well-planned with our new Religion series and will include exposure to prayers, Bible stories, service, Sacraments and worship.

Various communication efforts will insure that the value will be known be everyone associated with St. Valentine. (announcements over the public address system, classroom discussion, Newsletter, Sunday bulletin, Staff Meetings, Parish Council Meeting, Advisory Council Meeting and PTG Meeting.

Recognizing that these are goals, the faculty will regularly evaluate our progress.
