St. Valentine PTG Meeting

Meeting called to order by President Patrick Connell.

Prayer led by Pat Connell.

Treasurer’s Report

• Bill Hirsh prepared March’s report. 4-5 expenses were paid and budget appears to be on target for the year. Deposits were made for the yearbook. Approximately 60 books have been ordered.
• It appears that we will have a minimum of $3,700 to spend on the end of year events. This could swell up to $6,000 if not all of the budget lines are spent fully. Further details will be reported at the May meeting.
• Pat reminded committee chairs to provide Bill with information on upcoming expenses. PLEASE turn in expenses in a timely manner.

Principal’s Comments

• Mrs. Watt thanked everyone for the hard work and enjoyed working with everyone this year.
• Due to the snow days, the last day of school will be June 3rd, which will be a half day, with dismissal at 10:30 am. There will be mass and then perhaps some sort of party in Frawley Hall.
• Mrs. Watt reported that the children will be allowed to keep some library books and suggested we ask them if there is anything that they want as a keepsake from the school. (The kids at St Michael's wanted to keep their station missals.)
• Field Trip to Beechwood Farms is scheduled for April 28. No chaperones are needed and children need to pack their lunches. PTG will pay for bussing and fees.
• Spring Musical is scheduled for the evening of May 14th and the afternoon of May 15th
• Band Concert is scheduled for May 20 at 1:30 (St. Val’s only)
• Kindergarten graduation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 at 9:30. Entire school will attend.
• Preschool graduation is May 19 and 20.
• Muffins for Mom is scheduled for April 30^th.
• Donuts with Dad is scheduled for May 14^th.
• Fr. O'Shea is organizing a Mass of Thanksgiving for all of the wonderful years of St. Valentine School. The idea is to invite back alumni, faculty, clergy and others who shared in the nurturing experience of SVS. A planning meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 27, at 6pm in Frawley Hall if anyone would like to work on this event. The mass scheduled for the evening of Monday, June 1st. There is a possibility of the Bishop attending.

Old Business

· The amendment to the PTG bylaws was ratified.

· SVS Picnic - Brian and Yvette will be sending out emails/flyers regarding the So Very Special Picnic to be held on Saturday, May 30, at Hamilton Park in Castle Shannon (there were cross country meets there in past years). There is a kitchen, covered pavilions, playground, basketball court, tennis courts, ball fields and a fitness trail. Brian and Yvette are looking for help with specific aspects of the event, and we encourage everyone to pitch in to make this a great day. We also want to encourage all school families, staff and faculty (and their families) to attend. PTG set an initial budget of $1,500 for this event and will pitch in more as it becomes available.

· 8th grade graduation will be on Wednesday, May 27th. There is still the issue about when to decorate Frawley Hall, due to Tuesday night bingo and Monday being Memorial day.

· Olympic Day is scheduled for May 5^th. Carol Erzen is coordinating a picnic lunch at the Community Center. Lunch will be provided rain or shine. 4-5 people are needed to assist.

· M&M photography is scheduled to take a school wide photo on Monday, May 4. PTG will subsidize the cost to make more affordable to families.

· There was discussion about what to do with PTG "stuff". Once PTG Events are over, Yvette Mueller will go through the storage closet and claim anything that she can use for other parish events. Lisa Ennis would like to take our hospitality supplies for use at the Lenten fish fry's.

· . Anything that is left will be offered to other Parish Groups. Details will be finalized at the May meeting.

New Business

• SVS day at the Pirate game is scheduled for May 31. Money is due May 4^th.

SVS student of the month award

· Thanks to all parents and students for their nominations. We had a record number of nominations and all of them were excellent. The nominees are Anthony Malley, Emily Nedzesky, Haley Dowd, Brenna Erzen, Olivia Dowd, Bobby Malley, Sarah Wray, Beck Kozak, and the 1^st Grade.

· The SVS SOM for March is awarded to the Entire 7th Grade Class, as nominated by Mrs Cluskey. They are recognized for their teamwork and their mentoring of their "mass buddies", the kindergarten class.

· Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate someone.
