Saint Valentine SchoolPress Release - September 18, 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE St. Valentine Adds Two New FacultySt. Valentine School in Bethel Park began the 2003-2004 academic year with two new faculty members. Mrs. Natalie O’Loughlin comes on board as the new second grade teacher, and Ms. Elizabeth Smyder joins the staff as the music teacher for kindergarten through grade eight. A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. O’Laughlin received her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and is currently enrolled there in the Graduate School of Education. She has previously substituted for Bethel Park, Chartiers Valley, and St. Valentine School. Her most recent assignment was as a teacher in St. Valentine Preschool. In addition to her teaching assignment, she is planning to continue her graduate work, as well as participate in the “Induction Program for New Teachers” coordinated by the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Ms. Smyder is an undergraduate of St. Vincent College and recently received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Duquesne University. She brings to St. Valentine School a strong music background. In her home parish of Holy Family in Seward, PA, she participated in choir and served as a cantor and organist. While at St. Vincent, she was active in Music Ministry and was a member of the St. Vincent Troubadours and Camerata and A Cappella and Renaissance Choir. She was also director for the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade choir at St. Vincent de Paul Elementary School in Wheeling, West Virginia.
