Saint Valentine SchoolPress Release - October 07, 2003 Students Blast Off in Space Simulation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE For More Information, Contact: Mary Steedle: (412) 835-3780 or (724) 348-6359 Three. Two. One. Blast off. It’s a dream of nearly every child to grow up to be an astronaut and take off in a rocket ship to the moon or somewhere in outer space. For seventh and eighth graders at St. Valentine School, it’s a dream that is a small step closer to reality Tuesday, October 7, 2003, as they travel to Wheeling Jesuit University to participate in the Challenger Space Simulation. The Challenger program was created in memory of the astronauts who lost their lives in the Challenger Space Shuttle accident in 1987. It is a hands-on learning experience designed to foster interest in math, science, and technology. The students will experience a taste of our country’s space program through a simulation in space and mission control. This Tuesday, every seventh and eighth grade student will be able to enjoy this unique educational opportunity, thanks to contributions from St. Valentine School’s PTG and the generosity of all those who patronized a recent car wash sponsored by the students. For more information, please contact Mrs. Mary Steedle at (412) 835-3780 at school or (724) 348-6359 at home.
