St. Valentine School Student Wins First Place Medal in Peace Contest

Ashley Meyers, an eighth grader at St. Valentine School, recently won a first place medal and U.S. Savings Bond for her poem, “Say No to Drugs” in the Peace contest sponsored by the National City Bank in cooperation with the Diocese of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Public Schools. The theme for this year’s competition was “How can we keep illegal drugs from destroying our peaceful community?” An award ceremony was held for all winners at the Allegheny County Courthouse.
