Four of Nine Awards to St. Valentine Students

The Greater Pittsburgh YWCA held its annual Racial Justice Awards ceremony at the Priory on November 13, 2003. There were 388 schools invited to participate in an essay contest, and 238 essays were submitted. Only nine awards were presented to students in grades six, seven, and eight, and four students from St. Valentine School came home winners. They each received a $100 U.S. Savings Bond. 

Sixth Grade Award Winners:    Sarah Shepherd, 1^st Place

Sabrina Koenig, 2^nd Place

Eric Fritz, 3^rd Place

Seventh Grade Award Winner: Patrick Lydon, 3^rd Place

The winners are all students of Mrs. Kay Menees, the English teacher in St. Valentine School’s Middle School program.
