St. Valentine School Wins

Six of Top Ten Prizes in Writing Contest

Prime Stage Theater and Carnegie Library held their third annual “Bringing Literature to Life” Creative Writing Contest Awards Ceremony on April 6, 2003, and St. Valentine School students took six of the ten honors. Adam Bittner and Gabrielle Mingrone won for their essays; Andrea Schaeffer and Justin Berner won for their stories; and Maura Westerlund and Bridget Bohonek won for their plays. The students received gift certificates and a copy of the novel Bridge to Terabithia.

Their teacher, Mrs. Kay Menees, was recognized with a “Literature to Life” Teacher Award for her “commitment to literacy, theater, and education.” She also received gift certificates to Holcomes and Prism, along with tickets to four future Prime Stage Theater Performances.
