Saint Valentine School

Briana Koenig and Kaitlyn Loy won first and second place, respectively, in a contest sponsored by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette to celebrate Newspaper in Education week. Briana received a $200.00 savings bond, and Kaitlyn received a $100.00 savings bond.

Each girl pretended she was a travel reporter. Briana wrote about Ocean City, Maryland, and Kaitlyn wrote about Niagra Falls. Their articles appeared in the Post-Gazette in May. More than 225 students from fourth through sixth grade entered the contest.

Both recently completed fifth grade and are students of Mrs. Kay Menees.
