Information

LOCATION
The Preschool is located in the lower level of Newman House on the parish grounds.   Classrooms are bright and cheery and the separate location gives the children a sense of a "special place" that is just for them.

ADMISSIONS
Children who reach the age of 2 by September 1 will be admitted to the "Tiny Hearts for Two" program with their adult "buddy".

3 Year Old Program: Children who reach the age of 3 by September 1.
4 Year Old Program: Children who reach the age of 4 by September 1.
3 & 4 year old children must be toilet-trained to be admitted to their program.

YEARLY SCHEDULE
The Preschool follows the same calendar schedule as the Elementary School with a few changes for conferences. The school year runs from Labor Day until Memorial Day.

DAILY SCHEDULE

AM PROGRAM
9:00 - Arrival, Free play
9:30 - Circle Time: Prayer, attendance, calendar, weather, sharing, introduce Religion lesson
9:45 - Guided lesson that reinforces a theme, Religion lesson
10:15 - Snack
10:30 - Cuts, crafts (Gross motor activity)
11:00 - Story, Closing activity, songs, fingerplays
11:30 - Dismissal
(The PM Program runs with the same time allotment for each activity beginning at 12:30pm.)

TUITION SCHEDULE
Registration Fee:
$50 for new families
$40 for families moving from 2 to 3 year old program, or from 3 to 4 year old program
Registration fees are non-refundable and are not deducted from tuition

Tuition Fees (2008-2009).  No change from (2007-2008) fees:
2 year old "Tiny Hearts for Two".  Please contact the preschool.
3 year old groups $1035 per year ($115/month for 9 months)
4 year old groups $1170 per year ($130/month for 9 months)
* Discounts apply for families that enroll multiple children.

** All St. Valentine families are eligible for tuition assistance through the Pennsylvania EITC program.  Additional assistance programs are available depending upon household income.  Contact the preschool for information.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, PARISH AND COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
* Use of computer lab, library and gym
* attendance at school programs and assemblies
* attendance at Mass and Prayer services
* field trips within the community
* activities with Kindergarten classes and other classrooms
* service projects involving the school, church and community

STUDENT TEACHER RATIOS
3 year olds - 8:1
4 year olds - 10:1
Current 2007-2008 Enrollment: 55 children

REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Registration for the 2008-2009 school year begins Feb 9, 2008 with an open house and continues until a specific class is full.  AM classes usually fill before PM classes.   New and transferring students for the current 2007-2008 school year are warmly welcomed on a space-available basis.  Please call (412) 835-5539 for more information.
