Lenten Activities

At St. Valentine Parish

 

 

"Through fasting and praying, we allow Him to come and satisfy the deepest hunger that we experience in the depths of our being: the hunger and thirst for God." — Pope Benedict XVI's 2009 Lenten Message.

Lent is a special time to join your parish family to satisfy that hunger. Take advantage of the many ways to participate in the life of the Church. Also, see the back of this flyer to see even more opportunities to grow in faith, hope, and love.

 

 

 

Holy Week

 

 

Good Friday

Lord’s Passion 1:30 PM

Holy Saturday

Blessing of Easter Baskets--Noon

Easter Sunday

Mass Times: 7:15 AM, 9:00 AM, 10:45 AM & 12:30

 

 

 

Lent begins this week with Ash Wednesday, Feb.25th.  Ashes will be distributed during the Masses and during the 4pm Liturgy of the Word.

 

Ash Wednesday Mass Times:
6:45 am, 8:30 am, 12:00 pm, & 7:00 pm.

 

 

The Way of the Cross will be prayed on the Fridays of Lent at 7:30pm and with the school children in the afternoon at 2pm.
A special Living Stations will be presented on Friday, April 1st at 7:30pm.

 

 


Our Holy Week schedule will be published at a later date. All are encouraged to make this season a special time of soul searching and reconciliation with our Lord and each other.

 

 

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is at the usual time of 11am on Saturdays. Also confessions during Holy Week will be at 7pm on Monday here at St. Valentine and on Tuesday at 7pm at St. Germaine Church.

 

 



Canned Goods Drive: bring your donation of non-perishable canned goods to Mass with you the weekend of March 14th & 15th. All donations will go to our St. Vincent DePaul Society & the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. Please be generous.

 

 

The annual Fish Frydays will be held in Frawley Hall, beginning this Friday, 4pm to 7pm, and continue on the Fridays of Lent except Good Friday. All are invited to enjoy the fellowship, good fish and support our Parish during this Lenten season.
