Youth Ministry

St. Valentine offers youth ministry programs for both middle school (7th and 8th graders) and high school students.

 

Our youth ministry programs are designed to help young people grow closer to God and deepen their faith through educational, spiritual, service and social meetings.  All this is done in with fun, excitement and friendship.

 

Both youth ministry programs are designed around 8 Components of youth ministry that are recommended by the US Bishops.

Middle School Youth Ministry

Our middle school youth ministry is open to all 7th and 8th graders.  We meet 2 Mondays a month from 6:30-8:00pm in the Youth House.  Come check out any of our meetings and bring your friends because they’re always welcome.  For more information call Jen at 412-831-6466.

 

High School Youth Ministry

Our high school youth ministry is open to all 9th-12th graders.  We meet every Sunday evening from 7:30-9:00pm in the Youth House.  You’re invited to come check out our meetings anytime.  Bring your friends because they’re always welcome.  For more information call Jen at 412-831-6466.

FAQ

  1. What is the Youth House?  The Youth House is a house on parish property that the middle school and high school students of our parish renovated to create a “home away from home” for the young people of our parish.  All of our meetings are held in the Youth House.  It is located at 2731 Mesta St.
  2. Does the Middle School Youth Ministry take the place of CCD?

No, all students are required to attend regular CCD classes through 8th grade.  The Middle School Youth Ministry program is a fun, exciting program designed to complement our parish CCD and SVS religious education programs.

Program Leadership

Our Middle School program is lead by a planning team of several parents and several 7th and 8th graders who meet one Monday evening a month from 6:30-7:30pm to plan the topics, and activities for our Middle School Youth Ministry Meetings. 

 

Our High School program is lead by a planning team of several adults and high school students who meet one Thursday a month from 7:00-8:30pm in the Youth House to plan the High School Youth Ministry Meetings.

 

We are always in need of teen and adult volunteers to participate on our planning teams.  Contact Jen at 412-831-6466 if you are interested in helping on either of these teams.                                                                                                 

Christmas Craft Fair

St. Valentine Youth Ministry does one fundraiser a year that provides funds for both of our programs.  We need volunteers to help make this fundraiser a success.  If you are interested in working in the kitchen please contact Jen at 412-831-6466.  We will also need teen and adult volunteers to help make the Craft Fair run smoothly.  Please be prepared to set aside a few hours on the weekend of Friday, Dec. 1st and Saturday, December 2nd to help with this fundraiser.
